MY NAME IS GRACE

In 2007, shortly after moving to Salt Spring Island, I attended a weekend djembe workshop.  And all manner of strange things began to happen.  (If you want the whole crazy story just ask and I will write the Sequel!) None, the least of which, was the moment when Spirit asked me, in a very dramatic way I might add, to change my name to Grace.  And just so we are clear, I had never even thought of changing my name before. 

So, I said Yes without really thinking, because well, I just felt how important it was.  But believe me, I really didn’t know what I was getting into.…. Grace is a pretty big name to take on!  The funny thing is, I was immediately no longer a Sheila.  But it took 5 years before I felt like a Grace.

It happened in what I now call the Temple of Grace, in 2012, during my very first Winter Solstice offering to the public.  Fifty people, jam-packed into our little Mongolian yurt.  We were in the middle of a meditation on love.  I opened my eyes and there, in front of me in the middle of the Temple, was a young woman, with long flowing robes and golden hair and a golden glow all around her.  And she was looking at me.  Looking at me with the eyes of the Beloved, with tears streaming down her face.  No, it was more like pouring, no individual tears, like someone had turned on the faucet.  And all the love she was feeling was being offered to me through those eyes and those tears and suddenly with a great big in-breath, after years of being in the land of no-name – I was suddenly Her – Grace.  And it was one of those Pivotal moments in life.  The kind you never forget.  I tremble at the memory still.

I have never seen this woman again – she feels like an Angel to me.  Just like Grace does.  Because now I know that it was Grace who asked me to take on her name.   And She is asking me now to share all of the Grace that is flowing from my flowering heart.
